Channel Div 1 Weymouth ladies 1st XI v Bournemouth 3rd XI

Result – 9-0 (Weymouth win)

A crucial match against third place Bournemouth turned into a goal fest for Weymouth. Only a few minutes after the start of the game, Ellen Dewey stole the first goal to get the ball rolling. Weymouth battled on and tallied up the score sheet to an impressive 6-0 by half time. Goals from Foot, Drewitt, Stuart-Smith, Butcher and Squibb left the away side extremely comfortable and confident for the second half. Bournemouth continued to make penetrations into Weymouth’s half throughout the game, but were quickly closed down and repelled by Weymouth’s solid defence. Some excellent play on the right side by Emily Bloxham and Ellen Dewey resulted in two quick goals from Squibb and Drewitt. The final nail in the coffin came from a short corner strike from Butcher, which nutmegged the home keeper to finish 9-0. A great win considering Bournemouth’s 3rd placing in the league tables. Weymouth now dominate channel division 1 and remain 6 points clear at the top of the table. They face bottom of the table Wimborne Wayfarers II on Saturday, home at Redlands, 12.30pm.

The seasiders travelled to Warminster with a depleted squad following their thrashing of Bournemouth on Saturday. Weymouth were put under pressure from the starting whistle, but some quick defensive play soaked up early pressure. A quick break down the right led to an awesome goal from Ellen Dewey that dented the back board. West Wilts turned up the heat with some goal opportunities before half time but a determined defence loaded up by Alice Craven in goal enabled the seasiders to keep a clean sheet throughout the first half. Weymouth started the second half with greater confidence and quickly took dcontrol of the game holding most possession. Lily Hiscock struggled to find her feet in the second half but put in a volley of solid tavles to fend off the attacks. Stuart-Smith easily converted a short corner to take Weymouth two ahead. West Wilts finally pulled one back, with a swift answer from Drewitt to seal the deal. Weymouth progress into the 3rd round of the Vase on 29th November. They have drawn Truro away.

Result 4-1 (Weymouth win)

Weymouth Ladies Seconds played at home again and were fresh and raring to go after a week off. The seconds started off strong with Irena Burnett scoring the first two goals. Snooky then slipped in her first goal from the back line to give the seasiders a 3-0 lead at half time.

Swanage and Wareham came back strong after half time and scored from a penalty corner. The game was played in a good spirit and midway through Snooky bagged her second goal from a penalty corner.
