RBIC yachts get under way from Weymouth

Round Britain and Ireland Challenge

Round Britain and Ireland Challenge

The Round Britain and Ireland Challenge yachts started their race in light airs on Sunday, originally scheduled to start at 12 noon, the race was delayed a couple of times before the start actually commenced at 1315 with 5 out of the 6 yachts managing a dead heat across the start line and the 6th getting under way a few minutes after the pack.

Again, due to the light winds, the initial match race was reduced to one lap rather than the two planned and then the fleet were on their way towards Cork in Ireland.
