Park Community in Weymouth

Weymouth

Weymouth Park District

At the Park Community Centre, Chelmsford Street, Weymouth The new ‘Fit as a
Fiddle’ exercise to Music for the over 50’s with Elaine South from Age
Concern is attracting a good attendance on Tuesdays from 1-00pm until
2-00pm. Your first session is free and then there is a series of thirteen
spread over the next few months.  You can proceed at your own pace.

The Macmillan Coffee morning raised over £93, thanks to Genny and friends
for organising this. It was a very enjoyable morning.

It is really great that Pat Lea attends the ‘Waterside singers’ on Monday
afternoons and then takes the evening session of Sing-a-long. This is a fun
filled hour from 6-30pm until 7-30pm when we sing and chat about all the old
songs, of course I am far too young to know most of them.
Then at 7-45pm after a break for tea a fresh group start Line Dancing with
Pat, it again is at a gentle pace, and Pat explains everything.  We are
raising funds for Pat’s charity.

The success story of the ‘Waterside Singers’ continues and we have several
concerts planned. We have to thank Johanna Wolff our teacher for moulding
the group who when we started as the project stated ‘Can’t sing… neither can
we’ into a fine choir who are confident enough to take part in concerts and
entertain at old peoples homes.

The Forum would like to thank Cllr. Joy Stanley for judging the Garden
Competition  in the Park District this year as Jack Sargent was not well, we
send our good wishes for the future. The certificates and results  will be
announced at the Community Meeting on Wednesday 20th October at 7-30pm. Come
along and see if you have won, also catch up on  the PACT priorities updated
by the Police and bring up any concerns you might have in the area.

On Saturday 16th October at 7-00pm we have the Community Quiz, at a cost of
£3-50 which includes light refreshments, you are welcome to bring your own
bottles.  We have teams of four but if you are on your own we can make teams
up on the night and there is a prize of £20 for the winning team. We hope to
see you on the night it is great fun and a chance to meet new friends.

Last year the Community Forum had an evening at No 6, King Street, Weymouth
and we were very pleased to have Barry Paull who is Elvis entertain us.
Well we have Barry coming to the same venue on Thursday 11th November at
7-30pm, tickets available from the Park Community Centre, Chelmsford street
Monday to Thursday 10-00am until 12-00pm and Friday 9-30am until 11-30am
ONLY £5-00.
