The Society of Dorset Men has given £350 to the Dorset Youth Association, to support it’s work in helping local young people in need. Founded in 1943, the DYA advises and helps those under 25 who are vulnerable, homeless or in desperate need. Trained advisors talk to young people about debt, housing, education and health, both physical and mental.

This morning saw the officla ground breaking ceremony at the site of the Sealife Tower Weymouth with the Mayor present, Merlin Entertainment Management, the Ladies Olympic Match Race Team GBR and members of the local business community there to witness this special event.

Oshine at Monkey World
Oshine, the Bornean orang-utan hit the headlines last year due to her unusually huge size when she arrived at Monkey World – Ape Rescue Centre. Oshine was rescued by the centre in August 2010 from South Africa, where she had been kept as a pet for 12 years. At that time, she tipped the scales at 100kg – more than double the natural weight of a female orang-utan.
