Denhay Award

Denhay Award

Denhay has just won the much coveted title, Best Speciality from the South West for the dry cured unsmoked organic back bacon it produces for Duchy Originals from Waitrose, at the Great Taste Awards.  The Awards, which were held at a dinner in London last night, champion the greatest foods being produced throughout the Country and Denhay beat thousands of other food producers to achieve this accolade.

“We were incredibly proud to win the Best Speciality from the South West Award last night,” said Jim Loescher, Managing Director of Denhay Farms, “when you consider all the amazing producers we were up against for this award it really does show that Denhay consistently makes the best bacon to the highest possible standard.  This caps off a wonderful year for our bacon and for the bacon curers who make it. Without the fantastic team that produces Denhay there would be no award, which is why we brought the trophy straight back to Honiton last night so that everyone at Denhay could celebrate this morning.

“It was fantastic to hear the judges sing our praises so highly – comments such as “I could eat this all day” really do make us proud”, Jim concluded.

Since 2000, Denhay Bacon has picked up 92 awards – and 48 of these have been the top gong, a coveted Gold award for taste and quality.   The trophy cabinet includes Great Taste Awards, Taste of the West Awards, and Bacon Connoisseurs’ Awards as well as awards from county shows and farming industry awards.  Denhay was also granted the Royal Warrant by His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales.

Made from high welfare British Pork and hand rubbed with sea salt, Denhay Dry Cured Bacon has been made to the same recipe since 1994. This traditional and time honoured method produces bacon which crisps beautifully, tastes succulent and does not leak white liquid as it is cooked.
