Monkey World was very pleased to welcome Chris Evans and his ‘Magnificent 7’ Ferraris once again this year, as part of his Drive & Dine charity fundraising event.  Day one of the four-day trip saw 7 lucky drivers and guests taking a tour of the south in 7 vintage Ferraris owned by Chris Evans himself and friends.  The drivers were selected by way of an auction, which has previous raised hundreds of thousands of pounds for Children In Need.

One of Monkey World’s primary missions is to support primate families and so Dr Alison Cronin MBE, Director of the park, was extremely pleased to be involved with the event:

“It was great that Chris Evans came to the park for Drive & Dine 2011 to support Children in Need.” Alison says. “Family values are a cause Monkey World holds true to heart, primarily for our monkeys and apes who we give families and natural lives back to, so we are thrilled to be able to help such a worthwhile event that supports families and children in need.”

Chris and his group of generous bidders visited Monkey World, for a tour and refreshments stop.  Chris even leant a hand by doing a ‘scatter feed’ of fresh fruit and vegetables for chimpanzee Paddy and his family group!

Chris then went to see Enzo, the endangered woolly monkey he named during last year’s visit!  Monkey World’s very successful breeding programme also meant that Chris was invited to ‘christen’ Enzo’s new born cousin, by naming him ‘Milo’ – making him Chris’ second ‘God-monkey’ at the park!
