Weymouth residential home gets its own carnival party thanks to local supermarket

Ingleside Residential Home was given its own version of Weymouth Carnival when residents were thrown a party by local supermarket, Asda Weymouth.

Sandy West, an Asda colleague from the newly revamped Asda store on Newstead Road visited the care home, bringing with her a selection of treats from the store’s Chosen by You range.  Residents were also played music and party decorations were put up to provide a real carnival atmosphere.

Sandy West, said:

“Weymouth Carnival is a big date in Weymouth’s diary and we didn’t want anyone to miss out.  We had the idea of throwing the residents of Ingleside Care Home a party as they may not all be able to get out and enjoy the festivities.  We thought we’d bring the carnival to them.

“It has been a busy week for the store as we only relaunched on Monday after undergoing a refurbishment but we still wanted to do what they could for members of the community on carnival day.

“I think the residents enjoyed the sing along and the tea and treats from us.  It was so lovely to meet all of them.”

Christopher Webb of Ingleside Residential Home, added:

“We had a lovely morning with the people from Asda and I know the residents really enjoyed the mini-carnival put on for them.    We really appreciate the store taking time out and coming to visit us.”
